Pennsylvania has approved the YWCA to accept tax credits from the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program (EITC) for pre-kindergarten scholarships. These scholarships are available for children ages 3 to 5 who are enrolled in our child care programs. As the largest child care provider in Adams County, our three centers care for approximately 270 children, and almost 40 percent of those participate in our Pre-K programs.
Pre-K scholarships benefit families that struggle to make full tuition payments but earn too much to qualify for Pennsylvania child care subsidies. This is an important link in making sure all PA children are kindergarten-ready.
Qualifying businesses may contribute to EITC up to $10,000 as a 100 percent tax credit, and an additional $90,000 as a 90 percent tax credit. Eligible businesses are those authorized to do business in the Commonwealth of PA and must be subject to any of the following taxes: Corporate Net Income Tax, Capital Stock Franchise Tax, Bank and Trust Company Shares Tax, Title Insurance Companies Shares Tax, Insurance Premiums Tax, or Mutual Thrift Institutions Tax.
Applications for tax credits are processed on a first come, first served basis. With no additional cost to you and with minimal effort, you can make your tax dollars benefit Adams County children through the YWCA.
