There is a very good chance that you know someone who has been affected by breast cancer, if it has not been yourself.
When someone is suffering from an ailment we have not experienced, we often say to ourselves “I wish there was something I could do.” Likewise, the person suffering may feel no one understands what they are going through.
The Encore Breast Cancer Support Group brings together women who are dealing, or have dealt, with breast cancer and offers a variety of programming reflecting the needs of the members.
The Encore Breast Cancer Awareness 5K, scheduled for Oct. 13, 2012 at 8:30 a.m., brings together an entire community who support this great group of women and their cause in helping others with breast cancer diagnosis.
The race starts at the YWCA and runners will witness the beautiful fall foliage as they travel through Cumberland Township. Medals are presented to first and second place men and women in the following age groups: 13 and under, 14-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 and older.
This fall event will travel through the beautiful Cumberland Township countryside. For those of you who do not live in Adams County, the fall is a beautiful time to visit Gettysburg and tour the Gettysburg National Military Park. The National Apple Harvest Festival – a great event for the entire family – is also occurring that weekend and is only a short drive from the YWCA.
