Enjoy dancing? Come exercise through dancing in the water to Spanish tunes. This class will help tone muscle, strengthen muscles and help you lose unwanted weight.

Water Polo Club
Interested in playing or learning how to play water polo? Come on out and attend the first club meeting. The club is open to people of all ages, who can swim 200 meters with a fast pace stroke without stopping. If you are interested call 717-334-9171 ext. 129

Aquatics
Since 1981, the YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County has been home to the only public indoor swimming pool in the county. Within our aquatics program we offer a variety of programs for all ages: from our American Red Cross-certified parent-child program that teaches children as young as 6 months old age-appropriate respect for water, to our Arthritis Foundation water fitness classes that are populated by men & women on the other end of the age spectrum.
Children and teenagers can participate in swim lessons that will take them from elementary water safety skills to be able to swim at least six different strokes. More advanced children and adults can join our Sharks swim team or our masters swimming program. We have recently expanded our swim team program for youth to compete on a national level and even train for the Olympics. Our water fitness classes offer our more senior members an opportunity to strengthen their muscles and lose weight in a no-impact environment.
We offer community organizations such as Special Olympics and the Gettysburg Area School District discounts for the use of our pool, and members can rent the pool for private parties. Family swim hours on weekends offer all community members an opportunity to use the YWCA pool for a minimal charge.
Water Fitness Classes
Our water fitness classes run the gamut of fitness: some focus on strengthening joints and muscles, while others offer a hard workout to tone your body and help you lose weight. Everyone enjoys the friendships they make through classes, and the camaraderie keeps them coming back for more.
Water fitness is safe and easy to learn. Classes include cardiovascular, strength and stretching exercises. Participants are encouraged to work at their own comfort level and intensity. Non-swimmers are welcome, but should at least be comfortable in the water to participate. The YWCA provides barbells, kickboards, noodles, and resistance cuffs for use in classes. Senior discounts are available on the first business day of every month. Everyone is welcome to try any water fitness class one time at no charge.

This is a medium to high intensity workout without high impact on the joints. This is a class focused on losing fat and building muscle in your arms, legs, abs, and more. This class is for people comfortable in the deep and shallow water of the pool. All necessary equipment will be provided.

Deep Water Fitness: Tuesday and Thursday 9 – 10 a.m.
A challenging routine utilizing water resistance cuffs for a low-impact but intense workout. For those comfortable in deep water. Class also uses gloves and barbells. (On summer break; will resume in September)
Seniorcize Water Aerobics: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 – 10:50 a.m.
A workout for adults that inludes stretching, muscle strengthening and cardio. The class is in the shallow and deep ends of the pool and uses barbells and kickboards.
Arthritis Foundation Water Fitness with Michelle Farrell: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9 - 9:50 a.m.
A workout open to people of all ages to provide relief from aches and pains related to arthritis or any other muscle and joint problems, or those who are fresh out of surgery or rehab. Class is taught by a certified Arthritis Foundation instructor. Equipment used varies.
Aqua Zumba with Niki Waters and Sara Casas
This is a workout in the shallow end. Through dancing to Spanish music, you can strengthen muscles and lose weight.
