BODYSTEP & BODYPUMP

A typical BODYSTEP™ class.

BODYSTEP™ is the energizing step workout that makes you feel liberated and alive. Using a height-adjustable step and simple movements on, over and around the step you get huge motivation from sing-a-long music and approachable instructors. Cardio blocks push fat burning systems into high gear followed by muscle conditioning tracks that shape and tone your body. Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYSTEP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

A typical BODYPUMP™ class.

BODYPUMP™ is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls. Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to get the results you came for – and fast! Like all the LES MILLS™ programs, a new BODYPUMP™ class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

Stories from our Friends

Many of our members and donors have shared with us how YW programs have improved their lives. Read below for just a few:

“I dream about the world I want to live in where diverse peoples get along and respect each other’s cultures. At the YWCA’s cultural events, I live it.” -Sara Gondwe, presenter, March Around the World cultural celebration, March 2011

“The YWCA Spanish class is wonderful. Senor Victor is an excellent teacher and a very gentle man, and gentleman. This Spanish program put me at ease as I practiced my ‘Espanol.’  The welcoming nature of this class encouraged me to try out my Espanol and not be embarrassed about my mis-pronunciations and frequent loss of Spanish words. Also, the Spanish language class at the YWCA gave me a good sense of community unity, just knowing that as we English-speaking people were learning Espanol, Spanish-speaking people were learning English in the room next door.” -Tom Jolin, participant, Folkloric Fridays Spanish class

“It has given me the opportunity to be able to communicate at my job and in the community.  It opened the doors for me to be able to obtain a job in education.  At the same time I share with marvelous people.” -Rosa Garcia, participant, Folkloric Fridays English class

“It felt good to be doing something that did not have to generate an income. It was just a gift–and served as a gift to me as well,” -Janet Trump, presenter, May 2011 Brown Bag Lunch

“The Gettysburg YWCA reaches out to all people of all backgrounds. Last December, I had the opportunity to assist the YWCA staff with Polish/Slavic Night. I met so many local people who share my heritage. During the actual event, we, the Polish/Slavic community of Adams County, shared our customs, traditions, foods, music and dances with members of the public. The whole experience made me feel very much at home here in Gettysburg. Thank you Gettysburg YWCA for making these cultural events possible!” -Anne Marie Wypijewski, Esq., presenter, Polish/Slavic cultural celebration, December 2010
