Inclement weather notice: On days that the Gettysburg Area School District is closed or has a delayed opening due to inclement weather, YWCA instructors are empowered to use their judgment to decide if it is safe to come to work. Class cancellations will be posted here.

About our classes:

Advanced Body Sculpting: Intense muscle conditioning focusing on both upper and lower muscle groups, including abdominals.

Bootcamp: Mixes traditional calisthenics and body weight exercised with interval and strength training. It also includes various forms of skipping, jumping rope, sprinting and interval training that involve bursts of high intensity work.

Chair Yoga: A gentle class that enables people who cannot lie on the floor to enjoy the benefits of yoga. All the poses are adapted to be done seated, or standing with the support of a chair as needed. The class promotes flexibility, strength, balance and relaxation.

Fit, Fun & Fifty: A total exercise class for seniors. Cardio, toning and flexibility.

Fit Yoga: Discover the health benefits of Hatha Yoga. All ages, sizes and fitness levels are welcomed. Yoga will increase your flexibility, tone your muscles and to help reconnect your mind, body and spirit.

Gentle/Beginner Yoga: Gentle yoga designed for all ages.

H.I.I.T.: High intensity interval training. Head to toe workout that will leave you and your muscles exhausted!

Kids Bootcamp: Bootcamp for kids ages 10 and older. Age-appropriate exercises that help your child increase strength, endurance, core stability, power, flexibility, balance and agility.

Meditative Yoga: Focuses on breathing and being present and aware of your mind and body while moving through Yoga poses.

Meditation: Gather in the Community Room at 10:45am. Comfortable sitting position will be encouraged (chairs, floor, cushions), and set an intention (an individual point-of-focus) for our practice. A few tips on how to center and quiet thoughts will be shared (using breath, sound or touch). Two meditation sessions will be initiated. Each will last 15 or 20 minutes. You have the option to stay for one, ending by 11:15am; or stay for two. At the end of the second meditation, folks are invited to ask questions and/or share something about their experience, or simply leave. Meditations will vary in style, including sitting, walking and standing. At times, we’ll also listen to a recorded, guided meditation from an experienced      teacher. Pilates: A beginners introduction to Pilates Mat work through a series of floor exercises designed to promote core strength, flexibility, good posture and improve body awareness.

Power Hour: One hour of weight lifting that will tone your whole body!

Raising the Bar: An energy packed class that involves circuit training, strength conditioning, High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.), plyometrics, bodyweight/gravity exercises, and more! The objective of this class is to physically get everything out of you we can, having fun while doing it and helping you to raise the bar for yourself!

Saturday Shake Up: 30 minutes Spin, 20 minutes High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.), and 10 minutes of ab workouts.

SilverSneakers Classic: Variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing w/ handles and a SilverSneakers ball are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support.

SilverSneakers Circuit: Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power w/ a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers ball are alternated with low-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is used for standing support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

S.T.a.Y.: Start off with 20 minutes of Spin, followed by 20 minutes of Tabata (H.I.I.T.), completed with 20 minutes of Yoga.

Yoga for Health: A basic yoga class that is suitable for beginner, intermediate or advanced yogis. Its focus is on keeping your body strong for athletics, your mind calm to face the challenges that you may face, and your spirit at peace and in balance with the rest of your life.

Zumba: Fusion of Latin and International music that creates a dynamic, exciting and effective fitness class.

Zumba in the Circuit: The exciting dance rhythms of a Zumba class are combined with strength conditioning equipment provides a complete, fun and effective workout. This class is perfect for               non-dancers, new exercisers, experienced Zumba participants, or those who have previously hesitated to participate in group exercise class.

Zumba Gold: The design of the class introduces easy-to-follow Zumba choreography that focuses on balance, range of motion and coordination. Come ready to sweat, and prepare to leave empowered and feeling strong.

Zumba Toning: Those who want to party, but put extra emphasis on toning and sculpting to define those muscles! The challenge of adding resistance by using Zumba Toning Sticks (or light weights), helps you focus on specific muscle groups, so you (and your muscles) stay engaged!

SWIM & SPIN (AKA SUMMER STACKER): Meet in the indoor pool at 5:30pm for a 45 minute swim time (must be able to swim at least one lap). After swim, dry off, change in to your workout clothes and meet in the indoor cycle room by 6:30pm for a one hour cycle class- no experience needed for indoor cycle. May 18-June 29 Wednesdays, must have 3 participants.

Aquatic Classes:              

Deep Water Mix: This class offers participants a workout blending cardio, toning, and flexibility. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace. All participants must be comfortable wearing floatation belts or using noodles in deep water.

Liquid Assets: This class is for active and healthy adults who want a medium- to high-intensity workout that includes muscle toning and aerobic exercises. The workout uses the shallow and deep ends of the pool.

Movin’ & Groovin’: This class is for people who are very mobile without pain and would like to try a tougher workout without aggravating their arthritis. The class will still improve balance and diminish pain. The instructor is certified to work with people with arthritis, diabetes, and sports-related injuries.

Swing N’ Sway: A low- to medium-intensity workout for senior adults that includes stretching, and muscle strengthening. The class is held in the shallow and deep ends of the pool.

Masters Swimming: This is an adult swim program to help adults improve their swim strokes, endurance, breathing, and improve their fitness level overall.

Power House Workout: This is a 30 minute class that focuses on flexibility, balance and toning.  Shallow end of the pool only.  No swim experience required.

Liquid Fit: This class is for active and healthy adults who want a medium- to high-intensity workout that includes muscle toning and aerobic exercises. The workout uses the shallow and deep ends of the pool.
