Welcome to the Gettysburg Elderhostel!
The Gettysburg Elderhostel, sponsored by the YWCA of Gettysburg & Adams County, heightens your awareness of the Battle of Gettysburg, Adams County, and Civil War related subjects.  Come and enjoy the beautiful countryside as you unravel the strategy, facts, and people who gave the Battle of Gettysburg, in July of 1863, its character and pivotal place in history.

Elderhostel Mission Statement
Elderhostel is a non-profit organization committed to being the preeminent provider of high quality, affordable, educational opportunities for older adults. We believe learning is a lifelong process; sharing new ideas, challenges and experiences is rewarding in every season of life.

Founded in 1975 as a non-profit organization, Elderhostel programs were originally based on a few college and university campuses in New England. Today, Elderhostel annually serves hundreds of thousands of older adult students who travel to our residential educational programs throughout the U.S. and the world. Our Service programs provide opportunities to learn while volunteering in the public interest; and we support a network of independent community-based Institutes for Learning in Retirement. Hostelers come together as a group of individuals who share a common passion for learning. This love of learning for its own sake forms the basis for lasting friendships and provides a rich environment for intellectual and personal growth. In Elderhostel programs, and in the Elderhostel organization itself, learning is encouraged, people respect and listen to one another, and individual contributions are valued. As we move into the future, Elderhostel will continue to set the highest standards for program value and service. We will provide innovative educational programming and expanded accessibility for an increasingly diverse, older adult student population.
