Enjoy the support of a group fitness setting as an instructor calls the speed and intensity of the workout while the beat of music motivates you! Classes are led by an instructor, but you can determine whether you want to step it up a notch or take it a little easier–you set your own ride!
Inclement weather notice: On days that the Gettysburg Area School District is closed or has a delayed opening due to inclement weather, YWCA instructors are empowered to use their judgment to decide if it is safe to come to work. Class cancellations will be posted here.
Cycle class guidelines:
- Participants should arrive for class 10 minutes before the scheduled class time to make necessary adjustments to the bike.
- Participants should bring a towel and a full water bottle.
- All bikes are equipped with toe-clips and SPD pedals.
- Classes are open to rec pass members ages 16 years and older. Teens ages 13-15 may participate if they have completed the basic training class.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. with Jen
Hi! My cycle class usually lasts between 50-60 minutes. Hills are my favorite! In a typical class we climb at least two hills that are about 15 minutes each. Also included in my class are seated sprints and jumps. I like to add surprises from time to time just to keep you guessing. My music covers today, the 90s, 80s, and some oldies but goodies. Stop in and try a class!
Monday 5:30-6:30 a.m. with Jeff
An hour of eclectic and raucous music spanning six decades provides motivation through this challenging morning ride. All rides include alternating climbs, sprints & flats, and most workouts include H.I.I.T. drills to improve strength and endurance and promote active recovery. Continual focus on cadence ensures that riders are actively working throughout the session. Substitute drills are suggested for novice riders, but all should come expecting to sweat. New riders, please come early to get help with your bike setup.
Tuesday 6 – 6:45 p.m. with Tina
This is a fun and instructive class focusing on a combination of endurance and strength training. My class focuses on proper form and ends with 5-10 minutes of stretching.
Wednesday SWIM & SPIN (AKA SUMMER STACKER) with Eric: Meet in the indoor pool at 5:30pm for a 45 minute swim time (must be able to swim at least one lap). After swim, dry off, change in to your workout clothes and meet in the indoor cycle room by 6:30pm for a one hour cycle class- no experience needed for indoor cycle. May 18-June 29 Wednesdays, must have 3 participants.
