Deputy Director – Full-Time, Salaried

The YWCA is seeking a Deputy Director. Applications will be accepted until February 28, 2018. The position is full-time with a salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 (depending on experience) with full health benefits, paid time off, and retirement. The Deputy Director is a new position at the YWCA Gettysburg and Adams County and will be second in command. The Deputy Director will be assisting the Executive Director with managing staff and directors, as well as with YWCA events and financials. The YWCA is looking for an applicant with experience working for nonprofit organizations and who has a strong work ethic, communication skills, and dedication to the YWCA mission of empowering women and eliminating racism.

Other Qualification Include:

  • A bachelor’s degree; administrative and/or managerial experience including supervision of staff. Management experience in the non-profit sector is desirable with a strong interest in human services. Ability to identify and respond to the needs and concerns of Adams County.
  • Must be a role model and advocate for women.
  • Innovative, energetic, creative, diplomatic with ability to create and sustain enthusiasm for YWCA in others.
  • Must possess leadership skills, including management, organization, and personnel. Skilled in financial management and budget development.
  • Must have seven (7) years of work experience with a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience and be willing to live in Adams County.
  • Must be able to work in an inclusive environment, to communicate orally and in writing and to understand and deal with conflict, constructively and respectfully.
  • Basic membership of YWCA Gettysburg & Adams County required upon hire.

Deputy Director Job Description

Fitness Attendant

Qualified candidates must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Good judgement, ability to problem solve, ability to relate well with staff and general public. Set hours are Mondays and Wednesdays 2:00pm – 6:00pm as well as being willing to work evenings and weekends if need be. Pay starts at $9.00 and is increased to $9.40 after a 60 day introductory period.

Applicants for all positions must be willing and able to acquire favorable child abuse, criminal background, and FBI clearances, and first aid certification (as applicable)

Lifeguard – Part Time

Do you have a desire to improve lives through exercise? Join a team where you grow and learn while having a fun! The YWCA is currently looking for energetic and driven individuals who want to make a difference.

  • Lifeguards monitor pool activities and ensures member safety.
  • Lifeguards need to possess knowledge of rescue procedures and emergency medical procedures.
  • To help prevent incidents, lifeguards must enforce all safety guidelines as outlined by the YWCA.
  • To ensure safety, lifeguards must remain alert throughout an entire shift.
  • Additional job duties a lifeguard performs include preparing activity and incident reports and performing pool maintenance.

  • Applicants must have current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications.
  • A lifeguard may need to possess a pre-employment physical and a skills test.
  • Candidates must be at least 15 years old.
  • Must be willing and able to acquire favorable child abuse, criminal background, and FBI clearances.

Sharks Swim Team Head Coach – Part Time

Candidate must have current American Red Cross, CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. Experience is preferred but training is available. Candidates must be willing to work weeknights between 5:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. and some Saturdays between 7:45 a.m. and 2 p.m. between October and February.

Masters Swim Coach – Part Time

Candidate must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or acquire them within 6 months of employment), and have at least 2 years of experience in coaching a swim team.  Candidate must also be a member of USMS.

Swim Instructor – Part Time

WSI certification required for this position. Must have current American Red Cross, CPR, First Aid, and AED. Preferred experience teaching preschool and/or school-age group swim lessons. We are looking for individuals with flexibility.
